Scripture: Isaiah 64:8- But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand
Devotion: Aren’t we all made in God’s image? Aren’t we all children of God? In today’s scripture, once again we see God positioned as the creator and molder of our lives. Just like clay he is constantly shaping us into what He wants for us.
This goes back to a conversation I had years ago about how we should not confuse the creator with his creations.
The potter is the creator and the finished product is the creation. And we as the clay must bend, fold, and be placed under stress to go from a lump into beautiful pottery.
Today, I want you take a different perspective when the Bible says that we were made in God’s image.
Most of the time, we say that we are a reflection of God, and this is true. But what if, when it says we are made in his image, that image is not him, but his vision for us? What if our purpose was fulfill the image he had for us?
When it comes to your finances, you are the potter, the money is the clay, and your goals are the finished products. Remember, we all have a vision for our lives and your goals are made in that image. And we use money to shape it.
So now when you look back on your life, you can sincerely say, “this is the work of my hand!”
So how do we shape our financial lives?
It start with getting organized and gathering your resources. You have to know how much clay you have and how much you need to make the pottery you desire. Understand that our finances may not be in the shape that we see in our minds, yet, but once we lock in on a goal and work towards that goal, the clay will start to take shape.
You may not have as much clay as you wish, but it will come. We have to be patient because if we rush the process, we may ruin the clay we already have. It is a definitely a relationship of give and take.
Prayer: Lord, help me shape the image in my mind of the life I desire and give me perseverance, so I don’t give up when things don’t look right.
